After a fire destroyed their processing plant in 2023, Gifford’s Ice Cream is back with new flavors and fresh branding.
With funding from the Dairy Marketing and Branding Services Grant, Gifford’s partnered with Maine-based multiplatform branding agency Ethos on a new line of pints. Through this collaboration, Gifford’s implemented a marketing strategy that included social media campaigns, website enhancements, Instacart promotion, media coverage (TV, radio), billboards, and new packaging designs for their line of ice cream pints.
The brand update and subsequent marketing led to a 28% increase in sales.
The sales were driven in part by the success of their Wild Blueberry Cheesecake pint, made with another Maine company: Wyman’s Blueberries.
This partnership highlights Gifford’s commitment to using real ingredients and supporting local businesses. Sam Moreau, Research and Development Director at Gifford’s, noted, “Maine wild blueberries are special because of their perfect balance of tart and sweet. This flavor has exceeded all expectations in both sales and customer feedback.”
The 7-flavor pint line marketing project coincided with Gifford’s comeback and resumption of production at their plant, positioning them for ongoing success and growth. Find your pint using their store locator and filtering for their new pint flavors.
The Dairy Marketing & Branding Services Grant is expected to open again in Spring 2025. Learn more about the grant and view our full funding calendar for upcoming grant opportunities.
