HPAI Resources for Northeast Dairy Farmers

On March 25, 2024, the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of USDA released news of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) detected in dairy cattle.

While the initial detection was made in Texas, cattle in other states have since been diagnosed with HPAI.

For up-to-date information on this evolving situation, visit the APHIS website.

On Monday, April 29, 2024, the USDA initiated testing and requirements that must be met for all lactating dairy cows moving across state lines. Additional recommendations are made for non-lactating cattle and other species.
